April 26, 2012: The Rehearsal Dinner

We recently celebrated our second anniversary (April 27)  and as I look back on our wedding and the days that lead up to it I wish so much that I had written down more of the small little details so that I could remember all of the feelings associated with them. So here I am, back tracking... trying to remember as much as I can about the happiest day of my life up to this point.

Our rehearsal dinner was held at my Uncle Brent and Aunt Thomasyn's house in Cumming, Georgia. They have a gorgeous backyard and I just knew that it would be the perfect set up for the laid back, relaxed night that I was hoping for. Aunt Thomasyn and Aunt Jeni took the lead on the decorating, set up, and the overall look of the evening. Brandon's mom, Annette was gracious enough to provide the food for the guests in attendance. Brandon loves Mexican, so it seemed appropriate that we would enjoy munching on fajitas, as well as chips and salsa.

The weather was absolutely amazing. It was the perfect temperature and there was barely any humidity which is hard to come by on an April night in Georgia. We really couldn't have asked for any better. All of the most important people in our lives were there; our families and closest friends made it a night to remember.

When everyone arrived we ate and mingled. Then we enjoyed some time where guests were encouraged to stand up and share fun memories about us and toast to the happy couple. It was fun to hear stories about Brandon that I had never heard before and B laughed as my family revealed some embarrassing moments of my life.

Following the toast, Thomasyn pulled out a fun surprise: Chinese wish lanterns. We were so excited to light these and enjoy the beauty of the lanterns flying high in the sky. This however did not go as planned. There was a bit of a breeze and as the first lit lantern soared into the air, it did not go straight up. Rather, it turned and aimed straight for the big tall trees in Brent and Thomasyn's backyard. It was a scary moment, but we dodged a bullet when it slowly descended to the ground and was snatched up by one of Brandon's brothers.

After a little bit of clean up, it was time to head out. I kissed my fiancé goodbye for the last time (in the morning he would be my husband!) and headed to my hotel in Atlanta with my cute bridesmaids. I couldn't believe that when I woke up the next day I would be getting married! I don't know if I have ever felt more anxious and excited.

Les Miserables

We had a great time seeing Les Mis on Friday at the Hale Center Theater in Orem. Brandon had never seen the theater version of the musical, so I thought it would be a great activity for us to do over spring break. I have to admit that I went with very low expectations-- the play house looks old and dinky from the outside and doesn't show much promise. However, much to my surprise the cast and show was PHENOMENAL. It really was so well done. I loved the quaint, intimate feel of the venue and was impressed by the way that the actors were able to use such a small space to create something so amazing.
As I was watching the show, I thought back to the first time that I saw it. I was 12 years old and my dad and I went on a date to the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. We had great front row seats. I remember thinking how cool it was that we could look down into the orchestra pit, and see the actors spit as they sang! It was such a fun experience for me, and one that I am glad I got to share with my daddy.
After the show, we were hungry so we drove straight to Olive Garden for dinner. It's always enjoyable for me to eat there because I get to see some of my old buddies from my serving days. All in all, it was a great night out with my guy-- I love any opportunity that I get to spend with B.

The Randomness of Life

The main reason that I started Peaches & Freckles was to document the daily occurences in our lives. I have come to realize while taking pictures and deciding what to post about, that life is just a random sequence of events. It's full of little moments that seem meaningless and mundane. However, I can't help but think that if we don't record the "meaningless and mundane" we will miss out on a special message: It's the little moments that make life big. These pictures are a perfect display of the randomness of our life.

We got new pillows for our couch! I was at TJ Maxx and they just spoke to me. I love how they have added a little bit of fun to our family room.

Winston loves the new bathroom rugs. He is perfectly content taking his morning naps in there now!

My cute husband in the kitchen again. This time we made a frozen strawberry cheesecake. He was set on making our dessert look pretty so he added a big dollop of whipped cream and a sliced strawberry. YUM!

Janelle broke out her accordion at family dinner on Sunday and B just had to take a whack at it. It's actually much harder than it looks!

New hair and a 26 week baby bump! Up until yesterday I had never colored my hair. The last couple of months I wasn't loving how dark my hair was getting on top and when I finally got up the courage to do something about it, I made an appointment with my good friend Kelsey from Georgia. It was great to catch up with her while she was doing my hair... but it was even more fun to see the final product. Love my new Barbie locks! So bright and fun!
Here's a before and after. Just in case you thought, "What the heck...it looks exactly the same!"
